How many wonderful people do we have to lose before we learn that they are also human and they need their little privacy?

Princess Diana, Micheal Jackson. They are wonderful, amazing people but ruined by popularity. Should the paparazzi be less aggressive, the car crash might not happen. Should the public be less greedy towards bad publicity, we could have watched This Is It live.

Tiger Woods is not gone, but he had fallen. Fallen prey to the curious eyes of the public. Fallen prey to the expectations of others. He was right up there, not too long ago, making his billions, enjoying his success. Now, no more professional golf. No more commercials, even past commercials are not given the air time anymore. No more church under his name (although I thought this was rather.. hmm...) All because he committed adultery.

Honestly, haven't we all know of someone who committed the same? You might have even done it yourself. Do you cast away your friend if you found out they slept around while in a marriage? Do you fire your employee when you know he is having an affair? No. So why are people so unforgiving towards these celebrities? Ain't they not human too? They have tons of money, they can afford all the women they want. What's wrong?

Yes, adultery is wrong. There is nothing right about it. However, we have to acknowledge the fact that it's everywhere now. Being famous does not make one a saint. It did however made one's life amplified a thousand times and place it under the stringent scrutiny of the public's eyes. Your buddy there committing adultery is ok... Tiger Woods committing adultery is wrong. Your buddy committed adultery, no money to clear up the mess, you lend him cause it's ok... Tiger Woods committed adultery and can afford to throw millions to clear the scene but still it's not ok.. Why?

Is it because he's actually a role model to the society so he should have a squeaky clean image? Yeah, makes sense. But are there actually people around who would follow exactly what his/her role model did down to every single step? Had these people no brains of their own? If they are true to their partners, nothing in this world can make them stray. Oh, I know, it provides an excuse for those who want to stray. Right, right.

Anyway, my point here is not to support Tiger's extraordinary vertical tango escapades. It is just such a waste to have such a talented golfer leave the professional golfing scene (for now) due to something totally not related to golf. Although it was said that this decision was voluntary but seriously, how much of it was really voluntary? Even PGA supported his decision, sacrificing the significant amount of viewership that Tiger Woods alone would have generated. Voluntary? I don't know.

Let's just hope that he can really sort things out within his family (in private) and return soon to the sport which built him.

Bitter Sweet - Hong Kong

I'm back from stuffing myself silly with food in Hong Kong.

It was a very short and rushed trip as I do not have the luxury of time on my hands. Anyhow, it was a good trip. I ate what I have craved for a long time, visited the places I had planned to visit and enjoyed the wonderful weather.

Now, why bitter? I was fooling around with my camera in Hong Kong, showing that I can hide it under my sleeves and it got scratched by my Germanium health bracelet. I'm not an accessories person so I was only wearing that bracelet cause it claimed that it will help with my backaches. For the record, it either didn't work or I've not worn it long enough. Anyway, after I got back, I was trying to relate my foolish act to my brother when I realised that I've dropped my bracelet. Damn!! Well, it's not really that expensive but it was still relatively new and I've yet to enjoy the benefits (if any). Furthermore, unlike magnets, germanium is suppose to be effective for a life time (or so the sales person claimed). I paid more yet enjoyed less.... Damn!! I believed I might have dropped it while lugging stuff around in the airport. Oh well, I'm not gonna cry over spilt milk. Just wanted to whine a little.

Now, a little on the trip. Weather wise, it was great. Very cooling, no rain. I guess I was lucky, cause a few weeks or so before I arrived, Hong Kong experienced the coldest November in some 120 years, where temperatures dropped to like 10 degrees or so. It was around 20 degrees when I was there so it was just right.

Disneyland was alright. I guess it would be better to stay in one of the two Disneyland hotels if you want to truly enjoy Disneyland. That is what I planned to do for my next visit - stay a night or two in Disneyland then check out and move to the city. See, Disneyland is located far away from the city. So if you stay in the hotel, you save time on transport and entrance fee (I heard entry fee is waived if you stay in their hotels), and you can stay till night fall to enjoy the fireworks! For the rest of the trip, move to the city. More convenient to shop and eat cause taxi fare in Hong Kong is not cheap.

Must eat in Hong Kong would be the roasted goose. Well, I don't really have a strong liking towards the bird but I still would try to have it at least once whenever I go Hong Kong. This time, I went to the super famous Yung Kee and yes, it did lived up to it name. Worth a try but once again, do not expect cheap prices there. Another must eat would be Wanton mee! My personal favourite is Ho Hung Kee near Times Square and that was the first place I visited after dumping my luggage in the hotel.

We yum cha the traditional Hong Kong way. The restaurant was filled with locals, mostly old folks. They take their time, having dim sum and sipping chinese tea, while their friends join them at different times. There was no pre-arrangement, the same people just turn up and have breakfast together. It was beautiful. One important thing to note in order to truly enjoy this experience, have good commend of Cantonese and be able to read Chinese. I suck on both, but was really lucky to share a table with a very nice elderly couple who helped us from ordering, to snapping the promotional item to showing us how to wash our cups and stuff.

Hong Kong is a wonderful place, with colorful nightlife. Although the sky turn dark earlier there but the night remains very young. I was walking around in Mongkok at 11pm and the crowd is equivalent to our Orchard Road at 8.30pm. Many shops are still open and there are people everywhere! Shot me back to reality that I live in boring Singapore...

Fried Wantons!! Fantastic stuff!

This is the sweet & sour sauce for the fried wantons and it's quite a substantial amount as opposed to the puny saucer sized amount served locally.

Desserts at Xu Liu Shan. They are everywhere in Hong Kong!

Thought this is rather interesting. Curry combo - Fish balls, Cuttlefish (they call them squid there), radish and beef. Hong Kong's curry is a little like the Japaneses ones. Not spicy but flavourful.

Mango sago (I think). Xu Liu Shan is popular for their mango stuff and yes, they are all sweet and nice.

Mango with clear jelly or something like that. It feels damn strange to eat cold dessert and the hot curry at the same time. My teeth got confused!

I went for another round of desserts the following night, but strangely, I totally forgot to take pictures!

Hopped into another random stall and ordered this. I don't even know what's it call. I just saw the picture and point. But it was good.

And the fancy tea! These got me recharged and off to Temple Street I went.

Morning yum cha Cheers Restaurant along Nathan Road. The place was filled with locals.

Carrot cake. The nice waitress told us it's call 'Low Pak Kou' in Cantonese.

Xiao Long Bao. If you ask me, not fantastic. I guess Shanghai would have better ones! Hahah!

This huge chicken bun cost only HKD1.00 = SGD0.20!!!!! Nice folks helped us to order this.

Now, there's something I just don't understand. Before the performance start, announcements were made to inform the audience to refrain from using their flashes from their cameras. I think the announcement was even made in three different languages. And guess what? The moment the lights dimmed, flashes from cameras flashed from EVERYWHERE! I was like WTF?! What's wrong with these people? Geez... The staff had to go around frantically to try to stop these people. I said try cause they were uncontrollable! Once the staff turned his back, they flashed AGAIN!

The Jungle Boat ride! (The animals are fake!!!)

There is this magical, carefree feeling in the air in Disneyland. Everything is nice and pretty and mountains are the only 'non-disney' things in sight. Makes you forget about the world outside and just immerse yourself in this magical, fairytale land. Now I truly understand Neverland.

Bye bye Disneyland. I will be back.

It was a pity that I didnt get to see the fireworks. I will the next time, I will.

Arrived at the famous Yung Kee Restaurant. Location - 32-40 Wellington Street, Central.

This restaurant is famous for their roast goose. When I was there, I was told that the roast goose will only be available after 5pm. There is not way I was going to leave with having their roast goose, so we sat, ate other stuff and waited. These century eggs complimentary from Yung Kee and they are nice! I was never a century egg person so trust me when I say they are nice.

Some stuff we ordered while waiting for the bird. I know, that's quite a lot of stuff.

Tada!!! The roast goose!! It was worth the wait.

I'm going off to have THAT wanton mee with THAT fried wantons dipped in THAT super yummy sweet and sour sauce and still eat THAT beef brisket noodles, which I had craved for YEARS!! The best of all the above I've tasted this far are not available locally. So, I'm rather looking forward to my reunion with the creme de le creme. Yap, I'm going for an impromptu short trip to that old and modest noodle and congee shop tucked quietly in the corner of ......... where? Heh, I'll reveal the answer when I'm done stuffing myself silly.

Hey people! Here I appear again. Well, I wasn't exactly gone. I just didn't do anything to my nails that are worth posting.

See, my nails are relatively short now. No, my leisure golfing hobby did not demand me to have short nails but it really feels more comfortable in gloves when the nails are shorter. And after having short nails over a period of time, I'm starting to like the feeling of short nails on the calculator and keyboard. The fact that I got myself an uber nails unfriendly phone further reduce my desire to keep my nails long again. Hiak hiak. Alright, fine. I was just plain freaking lazy. The novelty of playing with nails had worn off quite a fair bit. But fret not, I'm not swearing off pretty nails. A vain pot like me will not be able to resist any temptation to look pretty! In fact, I had never really stop dressing up my nails. They are just less fancy now with normal one color manicures or plain French.

Anyway, I was touched by my dear Dugong's sincerely kind gesture to update this blog which had a major weed overgrown problem, no thanks to my negligence. =X. I had promised to update it. And I will try to update it as often as possible. Maybe it won't be purely nails related but erm... ya.

Alrighty, as proposed by dear dugong, this blog entry is going to be about nail glue and the proper use of it. See, our dear dugong got a little too enthusiastic about the nail glue application and had ended up with white patches on her freshly painted nice set of manicure. A picture speaks a thousand words so here.......

Yap, those were caused by excessive nail glue that had ended up dried and hardened. Quite a pity considering I really like this set of nails!

We all learn from mistakes (or rather, peoples' mistakes in this case). I had a nail glue overdose encounter before as well. It was so bad that I had to file the remaining glue off when I wanted to remove that set of manicure. Yes, it was that bad.

I believe most people had been through that path and had deduced their own set of methods complete with appropriate dosages. But for those who had not, let me save you from the agony by sharing what I have learnt through my own disaster experiences.

Try to avoid applying nail glue directly on your nail. I know it's faster and easier to apply to the nails directly but it also increase the chances of an overdose. (My own nightmare experience stems from this act as well.) Most professional manicurist apply directly too but hey, they are professional for a reason. The rational behind this is that the amount required to stick a piece of crystal is actually just a tiny dab and it's really hard to get just a tiny dab of glue on the nail via the brush or the tube. As such, it's often ended up with much more than required.

What I do is, I'll use a pair of tweezers, pick up a crystal. Place it on the opening of the glue tube (or on the brush) and just lightly dab so the crystal picks up a tiny bit of glue. That's enough, really. Then place the crystal onto your nail and press gently but firmly down on the crystal. Your coat of nail polish is probably not completely dry by then, so by pressing the crystal down, it will cause the crystal to be 'embedded' sightly into the coat, thereby increasing staying power.

Above is my method, I won't say it's the best but it had worked well for me so far. Nail glue overdose is nasty. Not only it's hard to remove, they reduce the shine of your crystals too! So ya, I hope I have helped in some way....

Where's Sea Cucumber?

Seeing how neglected Sea Cucumber's blog is makes me uncomfortable. So I just have to come here and give a shout.

Where is Sea Cucumber? What has she done with her nails? Why are there no updates? Has she gone back to live in the sea? Is she kidnapped?

Well, chill people. She is very much alive and kicking. And while we all sat around wondering where she has gone to.......she is happily playing golf at some country club. (I can hear someone going "God damn it!") Go ahead, hunt her down and throw some golf balls at her. Wahahahaha! (That's it, I am dead.)

So, since her nails are likely too short to decorate, I decorated mine. Due to some minor accidents or rather some OD, Sea CUcumber is now tasked to go through the photos and do a blog entry. She might even give a lesson on how to be less kiasu.

Am I making you crave for the next entry already? Hiak hiak hiak....wait a bit la.

I am going to admire my nails. Sea Cucumber will be here soon to make some noise. ^_^

Gold Glitters French

Had wanted to do something more fanciful for 'my day' but after I painted the tips with the gold glitters, I fell in love with this simple and elegant look.... The subtle base really helps to bring out the glitters. And after two coats of top coat, the mega shine just made the nails look like gel nails!

Saw this black and white french design in a magazine while I was having a (lousy) hair cut last week. I applied a coat of crystal glitters on top of the white tips as I felt that the white tips alone looked rather plain and boring. Kinda regret it now as the tips are rather thick and I'm having some difficulties getting them to dry despite having already applied the fast drying top coat. Duh...

It's so fun having Dugong as another author here. Puts little surprises onto the blog. Alrighty, me shall be gone now. Will be back again when the nails get a new coat! Till then, watch out for the Dugong!

See, I am totally lazy to do more stuff to my nails already. But I have a perfectly good reason for this - I am usually crap at French because of the precise lines. So I was wondering if I can slack a little if I use glitter tips. So, tadah! I've done up a very pretty French! (do I hear a cheer?)

As for Sea Cucumber, after last week's entry, she has went back to her MIA mood again. As I type on, she's happily swinging her golf club at some random golf course. *hmph*

Hello people!! I've been MIA-ing for so long. Thankfully there's my dearest Dugong to keep this blog alive.

Anyways, as you can see, my nails are short and boring now. Decided to cut them a while ago as I'm into some sports now, so it's better to have short(er) nails. Yes, it was a huge sacrifice! As such, I've not been doing much to my nails. Well, I've never once left them all naked though. I've been doing alot of french lately but as they are just boring, normal french, I thought I should not post them here.

It suddenly struck me today that it's about time for me to pamper my nails again so this is what I did. I did not have as much time as I used to for my nails so I just did this simple design. I know this is nothing new here as I've done a couple of different variations for this design sometime last year. I used to call this criss cross but somehow, I decided to call them fish net stockings today!

Well, I guess I shall be gone for a while again. I'll appear when there's a nail design worthy to be shared. Till then, do continue to watch this space for some exciting activities by my beloved Dugong!!

This is yet another first attempt. My first time trying to draw flowers. Honestly, I don't really like them, not nice enough. They are a little too small and the petals are not obvious enough. There is still plenty of room for improvement for drawing these flowers.

Leopard Print

Yap, I've gone 'missing' for a while. That's because somehow, I managed to make the previous set of nails last for 2 weeks!! They could last longer but I decided to remove them as I was going for seafood dinner.

Now, this is my virgin attempt on leopard prints. Seen alot of these on the net and magazines but never once attempted to try drawing them. It was until a lovely fellow cotter posted pictures of her attempt in the forum and sharing tips on how to draw them, then I decided to give it a try. Hmm... I don't think I did a very good job but they still remotely resembles leopard prints right?

Professionally Done Nails!! #2

Look!! Pretty? Went for my session with Susan today. This is my set of manicure she did for me. Beautiful acrylic roses and leaves with blings. My cousin commented that they look a little like bridal nails. Well, I think they are pretty. I'm so addicted to Susan... Maybe I should stop DIYing and just go to her every now and then.. Hee hee..

I had a rather hard time choosing the design. I flipped through a couple of nails magazines and still cannot decide on any designs. In the end, just told Susan that I want acrylic roses on a light shade base and she came up with this design. Wonderful... ....

I did a pedicure as well. This time it's not exactly matching with my mani but that's alright. My camera was unable to capture the actual color of the base. It's actually a lighter shade of purple than this captured in the photo. Nail art was only done on the big toes as all my toe nails are super short now, no point drawing so much stuff on such a small space. Oh, I really like these hand painted roses as well. I think I simply like flowers on my nails.

Golden french

You will not believe the amount of time I took to come up with this set of nails. My intention was to do my nails right after dinner, using the time to digest my dinner, then go for my jog. In the end, I painted and removed and painted again then removed again! Fed up, went for my jog first, hoping that some idea will come to me after jogging. Nope, it did not happen. After jogging, painted and removed for like twice before giving up and settle for this simple french design. And just when I thought it will all end here, I went to take a shower too soon, causing the tips to be crumbled. Luckily I took this picture before my shower. I think I'm getting more and more impatient. Should I stop playing with my nails for a while?

Well, I've completely cut my toe nails. Actually had wanted to let Susan trim them when I visit her this Sunday but my nails are too long for jogging. They keep pushing at the tip of my running shoes and it hurts. I figured I've to cut them immediately if I still want to jog to prevent some unpleasant stuff from happening. And I did, they are all bald now! Ha ha! No picture for that as they are puke inducingly ugly. Will post picture after I got my pedi done!

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to my session this Sunday!!

A dark colors combination. I know the red blings are not very obvious. Actually had no intention of adding blings but the design looked a little too plain, so subtly added the red blings. This design could be further improvised by adding a flower at the bottom. I'm being rather stingy with my flower stickers as I believe I would be removing this set of polish in too short a time to make worth the stickers. Hee Hee...

I'm not very used to my now shorter nails. But the good thing is that typing and using the calculator is now a breeze... Somehow this design makes me think of Spiderman! Oh, remember I was saying my cousin was calling me a giraffe? Well, I had an identity switch. I'm now a sea cucumber by the name of Sissy. Go ahead and laugh. I know it's corny but I should be able to live with it.

Black shoe laces on white

Notice my nails are even shorter this time? Yes, I've cut them once again cause part of the nail from the left fourth finger chipped when I forced open a very stubborn drawer looking for a button. Shouldn't have done that but... oh well..

This is a very simple design. Basically just base color and stamp. I'm still under that unknown curse so totally no inspiration on what to do with my nails. I got a little inpatient and applied the top coat too early. You can see from the picture that the stamped design smudged on the thumb and index finger.

Okay... So the picture does not look very happy but I just cannot help it. Call me a V Day grinch if you must. This Valentine's day thing is just getting way too commercialized. Go on to the streets and ask those people who are celebrating Valentine's day if they know the origin of this said day and I'm pretty sure that majority would just shake their heads. Worst, some might have the impression that it's a day when you walk around Orchard Road with flowers in your hands and where a secret little competition of who has the largest bouquet flowers takes place.

Me? Honestly, I'm not very sure what is the V day's origin, just knew it had something to do with Christian and ancient Roman tradition (or so I read). Oh well, ignore me. Maybe the magic in me had left the building, I no longer have special feelings towards any particular day on the calender.

To all those who feels love is in the air, a very Happy St Valentine's Day to all!!

Light purple french with big bling & small pearl

I know... It's french again. I'm suffering from some kind of mental block. I cannot think of any designs and when I flip through the nail mags, cannot find a design I am confident enough of doing as well. And when I finally found or decided on a design, I can't seem to find the right shade of nail polish!! Oh no! Am I cursed? By who?

Anyway, back to this design. Well, nothing special. Just normal french with a thin smile line. I made a mistake by adding a pearl beside the big bling. The pearl is too small and does not shine. So after adding it next to the bling, it kinda 'disappeared'. Are you able to see it on this picture?

Oh yes, I trimmed my nails! Did you notice that they are a little shorter already? Actually Susan trimmed a little for me when she did my manicure the last time but just now, I trimmed them further. I guess they are getting a little too long and the difficulty level in typing and using the calculator had increased.

Golden with crack

Base color (Golden rules) from OPI with white special effects crack polish.

Finally used the crack polish. I think I've somewhat figured how to achieve better crack effect. The trick is actually to apply a thin coat as oppose to a thick one, so that it will crack nicely as well as produce more cracks. Erm... I don't know what to say about this design. At certain angle, it looks kinda gross, due to the cracks. But certain angle, it looks quite alright. And I also kinda think that it looks a bit like a giraffe print. Hee hee... Oh, my cousin just called me a giraffe the other day.. Ha Ha! I guess maybe the next time, I shall apply the crack polish to the whole nail instead.

It was really a nightmare removing the crack polish! Worst than removing glitters! Gosh... And they chip like crazy. Started chipping just one day after application. Though this is an interesting product to play with once in a while but I guess I will not be using it again anytime soon.

This design was inspired by a design from Nails Up, Mar 2009 issue (I think). A very lively, festive feel set of nails. I think I'm rather slow... Doing festive nails only when all the festivals are over. Ha ha! Oh wait, there's Valentine's Day coming but not that I celebrate it anyway. Heh...

I've always wanted to get a nice gold shade as the only gold polish I have is from Daiso and I don't really like it.

Ah... I've very reluctantly removed my beautiful professionally done manicure. Bye bye to cranes and sakuras... I am so going back to her to get my nails done!

Now, back to this design. This is actually a simplified version of a design taken from Nail Venus Spring 2009 edition. The actual design has 2 more blings placed at the base of the nails. This design has an elegant feel to me and I think it can be used as bridal nails. I love the color combination. I choose to use this shade of pale pink instead of the shimmery shade the actual design used. I find that pink, silver(grey) and white combined gives a very sensual and romantic feel. Oh... how nice.... However, after looking at this design for a while longer, I kinda think that they look like little flip flops! Ha Ha!!

This arrived in the mail today. I got it from a local ebay seller. This set comes with 2 bottles of OPI polish - Passion and Bubble Bath. And a free 'diamond' ring key chain! It's really cute and the 'diamond' is huge! Ha ha!

Well, I'm still having the professionally done mani and pedi on, so I can't try these colors yet. Will try them in due time!

The session was one of the most enjoyable mani/pedi session I've had so far. There were so much jokes and laughter and this lovely cotter is so nice to share some tips and techniques with me. I'm hooked on her service... I want to visit her more often!!

This is my Chinese new year nails. One of the feng shui master said that my lucky color this year is purple and it would be good if I wear some purple gems. Well, I figured I'll wear them on my nails! This design was inspired by a Japanese nail mag.

This design looks like my nails are wearing little crowns. It also reminds me of Tiffany & Co. Hee Hee... I think using white french tips instead of blue will look very nice as well. Had wanted to add some pearls to this design as I would like to try out the new nail glue before Chinese New Year and also, it had been quite a while since I last used my pearls. However, I don't think pearls or even blings will look good on this. This design should remain like this, clean and simple.

My nail glue dried up. I think maybe I did not replace the cap tight enough. So, I decided not to get that expensive glue anymore. Found out from the forum that Daiso has nail glue as well, so I went yesterday and got some other stuff while I was there.

Picked up the tweezers as the pair of tweezers I used for my crystals is not working very well anymore due to nail glue getting stuck on it. And, I found nail polish thinner too! I was about to get the Seche Restore but since this Daiso one cost only $2, I figured I'll try this out first.

I know I've been doing overlapping french twice in a row but I just can't help it. It's so easy to create and that saves me a lot of time! Ha ha! Alright, I will not be doing this again the next time.

Overlapping french tips in white (WH002) and red (RD301). Base color is in a shade of very light pearl orange (OR201). All colors from The Face Shop. Added lace stickers at the edges of the whites. Blings from Swarovski for a more interesting look.

I think this is a rather sweet looking design. It seems to me that overlapping french makes one's nails look slimmer. (Actually, I don't know the proper name for this 2 colors french look alike design, so I just call it overlapping french). One thing I dislike is the lace stickers. This is the second time I'm using these stickers and I encountered the same problem as I did the first time. The stickers do not seem to stick very well at the ends. They tend to lift up almost immediately and refused to stick back. I thought I did not press well enough the first time so I made an effort to press down hard on the ends before applying my top coat this time round but they still lifted. Oh well, I think I will just finish using them then buy new ones!

Crack Polish Demo

Allow me to show you what the crack polish is all about.

First, apply your base color.
Wait a little while until it's almost dry. Then apply the crack polish. You can apply over the entire nail or just part of it. I choose to apply to the tips.
Now, sit back and watch the magic. The polish will start to crack in about 5 minutes.
See... This is how it would look like. However, I'm not sure why the bottom part refused to crack. Maybe next time, I will apply over a larger area and see what happens.

Alright, this crack polish comes in many different colors and the one that I bought is white. They have green, yellow, black, blue, red, blah, blah, blah... Quite a fun thing to have.

Deep Purple French with flowers

Created this using the Konad set. Deep purple french tips (RD304) from The Face Shop. Base was just 2 coats of OPI Envy Original. The design you see here is actually a combination of 2 different images.

Well, I won't say that they are very pretty but they are good enough since I would never be able to draw anything close to this with free hand! I saw plenty of very pretty creations using this Konad stamping tool on their website. I think I still require a lot of practise!!

Finally laid my hands on a set of Konad Stamping Nail Art. I had been reading about this stamping tool and even made an online order for a set, but apparently, the order might have been lost or they are no longer taking online orders, my order never went through. And since I was in Jurong today, I dropped by Jurong Point and got myself a set. There are 3 sets available. $19.90 gets you 1 image plate, 2 special nail polish, 1 stamp and 1 scraper. $29.90 gets you 2 image plates, 3 special nail polish, 1 stamp and 1 scraper. And $39.90 gets you 3 image plates, 4 special nail polish, 1 stamp and 1 scraper. As you can see from the pictures, I got the 3rd set. I just cannot decide on just 1 or 2 image plates!! Oh yes, you can choose any image plates from a rather large collection. The special nail polish will also be of colors of your choice. I wanted to choose black, white, red and gold. But stock was out for gold so I made do with yellow. The sales assistant said that stamping can only be done using the special nail polish, normal nail polish cannot be used.

Okay, how this thing works is like this. You choose an image from the image plate you would like to have on your nails (or any other surface), then you apply a coat of the special polish onto the image and scrap off the excess with the scraper. Next, take the stamp and stamp on the image and then onto your nails (or wherever you want to image to be). And viola! Now the 'amazing' thing is that, the entire image from the stamp is transferred on the nail (ie: the stamp is clean after the image is transferred). So I guess this is why the special nail polish is required. I will try with normal nail polish in due time.

And I also bought this! Crack polish! Totally brandless! Ha ha ha! Well, I saw this the last time I was at this shop but did not buy because they did not have the color I wanted in stock. When I saw it today, I just have to get it before I regret! Erm... you see, Jurong Point is very out of the way for me...

I will create a post to show you how this crack polish work. (It's for nails, I swear!)

I really don't like the previous design I had on my nails so I had to remove it today. I had been wanting to create a plaid design like the below picture for a while. I figured I might not be able to draw so nicely, so I just did a simple version to test it out first. Well, appears that what I drew is far from plaid! Ha Ha! I'll try harder next time. I really love red base plaid designs!

White lines on Navy blue

Navy blue (BL604) from The Face Shop. White lines created with Artclub White satin. Please excuse my stained fingers, I didn't remove the excess polish from them before taking this picture.

I don't really like this. Had wanted to remove them and do something else after I was done with my left hand but decided against it. I think I shall just leave them on my nails for a day or two.

This blue is quite pretty. It's not too 'all over your face' blue. It's very smoothing to the eyes.

Now, as for the nail supplement. I've received some replies from the ladies at the forum. Apparently, it's suppose to act like a nail mask. You apply to bare nails, wait for a while then remove it. (I also read from else where that you don't have to remove the supplement, you can just apply base coat on it.) I did it before applying polish just now. I don't feel any difference in my nails. Hee hee... I don't think I'm suppose to feel different anyway! However, it did managed to remove some left over polish I had on my nails. So, I think it's a good item to have especially after removal of dark color polishes that might cause some stains.

Pink French Pokka Dots

I've finally figured out how to use the dotting tool which I bought moons ago and created the above with it. Very sweet looking set of nails.

I think I will try as much as possible to list the number/names of the polishes I used. Bright pink (PK105) from The Face Shop. White dots created with white nail art polish from Daiso and the lines were drawn with Pink Pastel by Artclub. I did not apply any base color here, just 2 coats of OPI Envy.

Did a similar design for my toes as well.
Used a nude color (BR802) from The Face Shop for the base. The pink and white are the same as the above manicure. Created a white line instead of pink for my pedi using Satin White from Artclub. I love this Satin White shade. True to it's name, it really delivers a satin finish. It's quite different from the usual white shade. Very pretty.

Well, remember the nail supplement I bought by accident from The Face Shop? (refer to here) I don't know how to use it. I thought it is to be used like a base coat but I tried and noticed that it won't dry. So, am I suppose to apply it onto my nails after I apply polish? Doesn't make much sense to me though... If anyone happens to know how to use the nail supplement, please share with me. Thanks!!

I realised that my cuticle areas are rather dry and they are starting to peel. So I immediately went ahead and bought this online.

It's lightly scented with a very pleasant fragrance. I like the smell. It feels quite oily when I first applied it but after messaging the oil in, the oiliness became more acceptable. This can be used on elbows as well, though I don't think I will.

I hope I will be discipline enough to use this every night and if I do, I shall post a review in due time about the effectiveness of this product. Stay tuned!

Purchases #14 : Art Club Nail Art Lacquers

Received these from the mail today. I got them from the same US seller from ebay. This time round the shipping was rather fast. I placed my orders on the 19th and they arrived today. The last time it took almost 2 weeks.

I like this seller as he took the effort to pack everything nicely with the double layer envelopes and stuff. However, you notice that I seemed to have bought 2 bottles of red. That is actually not the case. I only ordered 1 bottle of red. The other bottle is suppose to be Neon violet, which is something like dark purple. The label at the bottom of the bottle indicated the color that I ordered but the contents are obviously red.

I've sent an email to the seller and asked him to provide me with a solution to this problem. I shall wait for his reply.

*Update*

The seller had reverted back to me. He said that there had been a manufacture mistake on the label of this bottle and he will be sending me a new bottle!! Yeah! Wonderful! I totally love the way he handled this problem. Highly recommend this seller. I think I shall order more stuff from him as a way of showing my thanks. Hee hee....

I bought The Face Shop nail polish again. Whenever I pass by The Face Shop, I will automatically walk inside and look at the nail polish. Usually I won't come out empty handed. Well, their nail polish is really cheap and the quality is not too bad, although they seem a little diluted then before.

Anyway, the first bottle you see here is a shade of milky white and I thought it's a nice shade as opposed to painting pure white all the time. It was only after I got home that I realised that it's not a nail polish, but a nail supplement. Darn! Oh well, I guess supplement is good. Hope it will do my nails good then. The second bottle is the very pretty crystal glitter shade I mentioned here. I was so happy that they brought this shade back. The next few bottles are dark purple, dark blue and black respectively. I know, they all look like black in this picture.

I'm scratching my head now, thinking of what designs to do for the new year.

I don't really like the polish from Daiso. The finishing is rough and it takes a long time to dry even after applying the magic Seche top coat.

As all the shades I used contained some glitters, this set of nails are bling even without crystals!

Metallic Prune

Found out from the forum today that Loreal had came out with a limited edition nail polish that is supposed to have this magnetic effect. After you apply a layer of the polish on your nail, just place your nail near the magnet provided and a star burst design will appear. I saw some pictures of the effect and was very, very excited about it. Apparently, Lancome already had this product some time ago and it was limited edition as well. Anyway, I flew down to Watsons and bought all 3 colors available.

There's Copper, Metallic Grey and Metallic Prune. The grey and prune look almost the same from the bottle.

I was having very high hopes for these polishes that's why I bought all 3 at one shot. It's not exactly cheap. They cost $12.90 each. More than the price of OPI.

However, I was rather disappointed with the results. The star burst effect is not really very obvious and it does not appear every single time. Also, I just cannot get the star burst effect to appear on the copper shade. Only the prune shade work slightly better.

See, I couldn't really get the effect to appear on my last finger. And can you believe that I took much longer to get this set of nails done as compared to doing other designs and sticking crystals? I'm regretting a little on this impulse buy. Maybe I shall practise a few more times. Or am I doing something wrong? Anyone knows how to make the effect more obvious?

Gold base and gold glitters from Daiso. 3D lace stickers bought online and crystals from Swarovski. I'm about to get a gold color mobile phone so did this color theme to get myself into the gold mood. Heh heh..

Did this to my feet. The base color is a greenish gold, from The Face Shop. Silver glitter tips from Canmake.

Crystals are indeed addictive. Upon seeing all my pretty blings, DW shoved his bluetooth ear piece to me and asked me to bling it. And bling it I did!

Alright, these low grade rhinestones had arrived. Totally regretted buying them. Oh well, shall treat it as an experience gained, whatever that might be.

Now, just as I was about to toss the envelope aside, I notice...
the stamps are not stamped! Ha!

I've ordered the Seche top coat from the same local seller I got my OPI Envy from. Looking forward for it to arrive. I shall try not to do my nails until the top coat arrives.

This is the 'coin tray' of my little red i i. It's considered half done cause it's neighbour, the cup holder tray is still 'naked'. It's really not easy blinging this as I have to twist my body into some strange angle in order to stick the crystals on. This small little thing took me something like 3 plus hours to complete. Even the sercurity guard came to look as he thought my car was unable to start. Ha...

Red wine polish from some Korean brand 'stolen' from my mom's loot. Silver lines created with Art Club fine silver glitters. Decorated with Swarovski.

As the stupid Nailtek top coat is still not working, I have to make do with the OPI Envy strengthener as top coat. Still debating whether to get the Seche top coat which is highly raved in the forum or the Sally Hansen one which had some good reviews too. The thing about Seche is that there's this warning about the product causing some birth defects blah blah blah printed on the bottle. I'm a little concern about this but the reviews on this product is really good. Hmm....

Blinged my work calculator with the lower grade rhinestones. It did not turn out nice but doesn't matter as I'm just trying to use up these rhinestones.

Blinged the rims of my little red i i's aircon vents.
Added 6 crystals to the screw holes of the gear knob. Pretty....

Pink tips, red lining with blings

Had been pretty lazy these few days so had been doing lots of French. No base color, just 2 coats of OPI Envy stregthener. Pink tips from Face Shop. I applied like 4 coats in order to achieve this tone. This color contains some glitters but no as bling as those from Canmake. Red line drawn with Art Club red glitters. And the blings, from Swarovski.

The Nailtek Quicken really cannot be used. I tried asking in the forum and was told that I should wait for the polish to dry slightly before apply Quicken. I tried, still frosted. Then, I tried again today, one day after applying polish, still frosted! Geez... what am I going to do with it now?

I ordered these Swarovski crystals online about a week ago. Wanted to try this seller as I thought it's cheap. I guess this is the first and last time ordering from him/her as I've found cheaper!

One more package of 288 non-Swarovski coming on the way. Kinda regret ordering them now. Was tempted by the buy one get one free promotion then. Thinking back, those non-Swarovski rhinestones are more expensive than the Swarovski ones and they are not bling at all...

Golden Glitters from Canmake. Non-Swarovski rhinestones. Coats and coats of OPI Envy strengthener. Seems like something is wrong with the Nailtek Quicken. After applying it on my nails, it cause a 'frosted' effect. I think would have to stop using it until I find out the reason.

Colorful French Tips with crystal flowers

Colorful french tips using ArtClub Nail Art Lacquers in Red Glitters, Copper Glitters and Gold Hologram. Fine line beneath the tips using Fine Silver Glitters and added a thin line of Crystal Glitters, both from ArtClub as well. Used the lower grade rhinestones. Had a coat of OPI Envy strengthener as base and 2 coats of Nailtek Quicken as top coat. As the thumb's nail is pathetically short, it's impossible to do french on it. So, lined the edge slightly with the silver glitters and added another fine line of crystal glitters as well.

Got this from a local seller. I've been dealing with this seller many times now. Bought my nail file and other stuff from her/him. Wonderful seller and lighting fast shipping and did I mentioned free shipping? I won't say it's very cheap. Cost me $19.90 but I'm fine with the price. Hope this can save my soft nails so that I won't have a botak nail again.

So glad they did not fall into the Pacific ocean. I paid a total $50 plus for all these including shipping. It's cheap considering that I paid $14.90 for that bottle of Flexbrush locally.

Now waiting for more supplies from Hong Kong and the States again. Well, at least these can keep me entertained for a while.
